I am Leonid, a graphic designer specializing in branding. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to creative fields. I started playing music at age 5 and studied at a music school, I loved drawing, and I used to take photos with the little camera I had :)
At 18, I immigrated to Israel from Ukraine. It took me some time to figure out what I wanted to do professionally. I explored, tried different things, hesitated, until I discovered the world of design and branding. From the moment I began studying it, I simply fell in love with the field. Today, I own Leonid Branding Studio, where I help business owners present and behave like major brands.
I’m always looking to learn and grow, and one area that has always fascinated me is typography.
For years, I was unsure whether to dive deeper into typography and type design. The real push came in a moment that was both deeply emotional and painful: Moria Levy, sister of the late Livnat Levy, who was murdered at the Nova party on October 7, 2023, approached me and asked if I could design a pendant for her with text written in Livnat’s handwriting. That’s when the idea was born – maybe it would be possible to design an entire font based on her writing. I simply wanted to help commemorate her in any possible way. That’s how I began learning how fonts are created.
Half a year later, a complete typeface based on Livnat’s handwriting was born, and it became part of the Ot.Hayim initiative.
For me, it is a great honor to commemorate those we’ve lost and to be part of such a meaningful project.
