Eyal was born and raised in Moshav Kfar Harif.
He was an outstanding athlete, loved riding his off-road motorcycle, hiking the country’s trails, running long distances, splashing in every spring and stream with his friends and his dog Harley, and stopping for coffee breaks at every opportunity.
Eyal strived for perfection, was stubborn, and achieved his goals with grace, always with a constant smile on his lips. He was irresistible – always full of joy and humor.
Eyal enlisted in the IDF in August 2019 and was assigned as a fighter in the reconnaissance company of the Nahal Brigade.
He loved the unit, his friends and the commanders, and greatly enjoyed the numerous training sessions.
During his service, Eyal completed a sniper course and then a squad commanders’ course. In March 2021, upon completion of the course, he was assigned as a basic training sergeant, and after a few months, he went to an officers’ course. After finishing, he was assigned as a commander in basic training for the multi-dimensional unit, and later as a team commander in the reconnaissance company’s combat track.
Eyal loved what he did deeply. A sense of mission and love for the country burned within him, alongside honesty, leadership skills, charisma, courage, composure, and modesty. Eyal wrote in his notebook that he believes a commander should challenge, make it difficult, and not give up on his soldiers in order to prepare them optimally for war, and on the other hand, treat them with respect as if they were his little brothers, be patient and sensitive, take care of all their needs, and love them. He believed that he should be the best fighter in the team, lead by example, lead his soldiers, and be the first to charge.
His soldiers say that this is exactly the commander Eyal was for them.
Eyal fell in the battle defending Kibbutz Sufa, at the Nirim Memorial, on the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2023.
Together with the Nahal reconnaissance company fighters, they blocked the terrorist attack on the kibbutz, thereby saving many lives.
