Shir Hana Georgy Z”L

2001 - 2023

Shir was born on May 16, 2001, to Ronen and Galit Georgi, and was the eldest daughter in the family. Shir was also the first grandchild on both sides of her family and an older sister to Ro’i and Yehonatan.

She grew up in the Neot Shikma neighborhood in western Rishon LeZion, attended Neve Oz elementary school, and completed her high school education at Makif Het High School named after Bar Lev, in a “Mofet” (excellence) class.

Shir excelled in English at a native speaker level. Even in middle school, she read thick books in English, thus perfecting her language skills.

She was a guide in the Scouts movement in Rishon LeZion and was much loved by both the youth group members and fellow guides.

A child of love, Shir loved life, music, parties, her many friends, and of course, her family. She loved to dance, doing so with joy, grace, and freedom, as if no one was watching, simply celebrating life.

She loved music and delved deep into song lyrics, which were very meaningful to her.

Shir had such a beautiful smile that no one could resist, and a contagious laugh that infected those around her.

She was kind-hearted, intelligent, brave, sensitive, pursued justice, and loved people.

Shir loved children very much, and they returned her love. She dreamed of having a large family and had even thought about the names she wanted to give her children.

She showered love on her many friends, serving as a listening ear and providing a sensitive and loving support system. Friends knew they would find true friendship with her.

Shir loved the sea very much, and in every moment of leisure, she would go to the beach with friends. She loved surfing and sunbathing in the warmth and light of the sun.

She enlisted in the IDF in November 2019, served in combat in the Jordan Valley Lions Battalion of the Border Defense Corps, a full combat service of two years and eight months. Initially as a squad commander for recruits and towards the last year of service as a company master sergeant.

Shir was vested in almost everything she did, and her soldiers were more important to her than anything. She often sacrificed most of her night’s sleep to solve a problem that arose among her soldiers. The commanders especially appreciated her motivation, intelligence, and great contribution in every role she performed, and her soldiers loved her very much.

She was discharged from the IDF in July 2022. Afterwards, she worked at “Plugo” company, after they immediately recognized her potential in her first interview. After several months of work, she went on a big trip to South America with her high school friends for half a year, and upon her return – during which her workplace kept in touch with her – she returned to her job at “Plugo” and was promoted to team leader.

She planned to study film at the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem. She had many ideas for scripts and was also interested in production and directing.

On October 7, 2023, she went with three other friends to the Nova Party held near Kibbutz Re’im, where she was murdered by terrorists.

May her memory be a blessing.
