Amit Man

Amit, 22 years old, grew up in Netivot. She was the youngest of five loving sisters in a large, feminine, loving, and embracing family.

There was a strong bond and great love between Amit and her father. When Amit was 12 and a half, our father passed away from cancer after years of suffering. At that moment, Amit understood that what she wanted to do was to save lives. From a very young age, she began volunteering at Magen David Adom (MDA) and spent many hours there. In between, she invested in her studies and nurtured her biggest hobby – singing. She sang from morning to night and was blessed with an angelic and pure voice.

At 18, Amit started a paramedic course through National Service, which she completed with honors. Later, she even instructed such a course in the Negev region and was the youngest instructor in MDA. For the last year and a half, while working as a paramedic at MDA Netivot, she also served as an on-call paramedic in Kibbutz Be’eri.

On Saturday, October 7th, Amit was on call in the kibbutz. In the morning, she woke up to the sounds of sirens and strong explosions. Without thinking twice, she put on her uniform, took a first aid kit, left the safe room in her apartment, and ran to save lives at the dental clinic in the kibbutz.

By choosing this action, she consciously gave up two opportunities to save her own life. Her partner begged her in the morning to drive with him to Netivot, but she refused. Staying in the safe room in her apartment would have saved her life – they didn’t reach her apartment.

For 7 long hours, Amit saved lives in the clinic, and even when she ran out of all medical equipment, she didn’t leave the wounded for a moment. She placed soft cloths under them for comfort, caressed them, and calmed them. Until 2 PM, when the terrorists managed to kill the members of the Emergency Response Team who were defending the clinic, when they ran out of ammunition. They entered the clinic and murdered everyone (except for three who hid and managed to survive). Amit, who remained last, said goodbye to her family in her final minutes and even tried to save herself after being shot in the leg. She didn’t give up and applied a tourniquet to herself, but the cursed terrorists returned and shot her to death.

Amit’s life ended, but her name, heroism, and courage will continue to resonate for generations. She will be remembered as someone who sacrificed her life to save others
