Itai Saif, son of Chaya and Rami, and brother to Uri, Shachar, and Neta, was born on February 8, 2000 (2nd of Adar I). He grew up in Yeruham.
Itai was a dedicated and beloved member and counselor in the Bnei Akiva youth movement. As the captain of the robotics team, he led the team to impressive achievements in competitions both in Israel and abroad.
He studied at the “B’Levav Shalem” Yeshiva High School in Yeruham and later at the “Keshet Yehuda” pre-military academy in the Golan Heights.
In March 2020, Itai enlisted in the Tzabar Battalion of the Givati Brigade. He was an outstanding soldier and squad commander. He continued to officer training, where he was assigned a platoon of new recruits and was awarded the title of Outstanding Platoon Commander of the Brigade at the completion ceremony.
Itai believed in action over words. He had a quiet confidence and the ability to lead his soldiers with humility, sensitivity, attentiveness, and by personal example. Thanks to these qualities, he led his platoon for two years with mutual love, deep respect, and exceptional professionalism. His soldiers affectionately called him “Abba” (Dad), and followed him with complete trust.
On the 18th of Adar I, 5784 (February 27, 2024), during an operational mission in the Zeitoun neighborhood, Itai was killed by an explosive device planted in a booby-trapped house.
He was 24 years old.
May his beloved memory be a blessing.
