Libby Cohen-Meguri, 22 years old, a ray of sunshine and joy, laughter, kindness, and giving in the world.
Libby was born in 2001 with her twin brother, Tomer.
From the moment she was born, it was clear that an energetic bundle of joy had come into the world, with rolling laughter, full of energy for laughter and mischief, and this is how she remained as she grew up.
From first grade, Libby rode horses and together with her horse, Sebastian, she won several national championships.
Libby was an outstanding infantry officer in the IDF, proud to serve the country, proud to wear the uniform. She did everything with passion and a smile, everything was easy and simple for her, she never knew difficulty or fear. Libby’s life motto was “Come on mom, it’s no big deal” and she used it every time she was required to perform complex or difficult tasks.
After years of service and career in the army, Libby went on a seven-month trip to South America, where she celebrated absolute freedom. She fell in love with Brazil, learned Spanish, took salsa lessons, danced all day, traveled in Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia. One day she called from Colombia and said “Mom, there’s a deadline for my return, I’m coming back by October 7th for a crazy party that will be held in Israel, all my friends bought tickets”.
Libby returned as a surprise on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, those were moments of pure happiness to hug her after months of longing. She spent three weeks with her family and friends. She filled everyone’s hearts with love and laughter.
Libby was brutally murdered while trying to escape from the Nova Party. She was shot on Road 232 while talking to her parents on the phone and saying goodbye to them with words of love.
