Omri was born and raised in Givatayim, attended Borochov School and Kalai High School, played basketball for Hapoel Givatayim, and was a member and counselor in the Working and Studying Youth Movement, Borochov branch.
He enlisted in August 2021 and served as a search and rescue combatant. On Saturday, October 7, 2023, Omri was at Zikim Base, Home Front Command Training Base, with his entire company when numerous terrorists attacked the base and attempted to capture it. Omri jumped to the guard post, saving the life of his staff colleague who had been shot in the head. Omri and his fellow staff members fought a long and difficult battle against the terrorists and managed to prevent their entry and capture of the base. In this battle, Omri and his staff comrades were killed – six staff members and one recruit. In this heroic battle, Omri and his fellow staff members saved 90 recruits and about 30 civilians who were at the base. Zikim Training Base was the only base that was not captured that Saturday.
Omri, 20 years old when he fell, left behind two mothers, a father, two sisters, Maya and Mika, and a big hole in our hearts.
