From Alonei Shilo – Karnei Shomron.
Shaul was born and raised in Be’er Sheva. A smiling and modest child, he loved to draw, explore, and rejoice.
He was a counselor in the Ezra youth movement in Be’er Sheva, and after high school he studied at the hesder yeshiva in Karnei Shomron. He enlisted in the Givati Brigade through the hesder track.
Shaul married Samdi, and they had ten children.
In reserve duty he served as a fighter in Battalion 8207 of the Alon Brigade – 228, as a designated marksman at the front. He continued reserve service for 26 years, even though he was officially exempt due to the number of his children.
He valued and loved simplicity in life. He was a man who lived both Torah and work, guided by decency and love of people. By profession he was a science teacher, a man of nature and land. Out of his love for the land, he volunteered with the Nature and Parks Authority, deepening his connection to the soil of the country he loved and for which he was willing to give his life. We will continue to walk throughout all parts of the Land of Israel with faith in God and love of our land.
On Shabbat Parashat Bereshit 5785, Shaul Moial rose to heaven in a storm during a heroic battle in southern Lebanon. Two weeks after his fall, his 47th birthday was marked – a hero of Israel and a simple man who loved the Land of Israel and the people of Israel.
All of us miss him – family, friends, community, and students who wait for the teacher to return to class and finish the lesson that will never truly end.
“He who walks blamelessly, acts justly, and speaks truth in his heart” – Psalms 15.
5738 – 5785
May his memory be a blessing.
