Tamir was born on June 29, 1985, and was 38 years old – a man of the land, a dedicated farmer, and an educator at heart.
A third-generation member of Kibbutz Nir Oz, he was married to Hadas and the father of two children, Assaf and Neta, the fourth generation of the kibbutz.
He had a wonderful sense of humor – playful yet serious – and was a man of strong principles. He had many friends, and a warm smile was always on his face. Everyone in the kibbutz recalls how he greeted people kindly, with genuine warmth and a friendly smile.
Tamir cherished the essence of simple living: working the land, investing deeply in his immediate and extended family, spending meaningful time with his children, going out into nature, enjoying picnics, and watching the sunset.
On October 7, 2023, as deputy security coordinator and a member of the emergency response team of Kibbutz Nir Oz, Tamir went out to defend his community. He fought bravely against a swarm of terrorists, was severely wounded, and abducted. He did not survive his injuries.
Confirmation of his death on October 7 arrived in January 2024, while his body remained in Hamas captivity for more than two years. It was returned to Israel in October 2025 – after 746 days – and laid to rest in the soil of his kibbutz.
Tamir is deeply, painfully missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew him.
