Son of Shaul and Daniela from Merkaz Shapira, he was raised on the values of Torah and faith. He began his journey at the high school in Kibbutz Yavne, continued at the Eli pre-military academy, and served as a devoted fighter and commander in the Duvdevan and Nahal units.
Quiet and humble, yet his sharp and luminous personality left its mark on everyone around him. He lived with unwavering inner truth, firm values, and deep love for others. As a commander, he demanded the best from his soldiers but cared for them like a brother. They followed him with confidence, knowing that as long as Shay was with them—everything would be alright.
During the “Iron Swords” war, he led the vanguard company with extraordinary bravery. In battle in northern Gaza, on the 14th of Tevet, 5784, he fell alongside his comrade, Shauli Gringlik z”l—fighters and brothers in arms.
His words before entering Gaza have become our duty as those who continue his path:
“There is one nation that, throughout history, has faced those who sought to destroy it. And in every generation, there were those who stood up and said—Here I am! You are the comfort, this is our turn!”
He fell at the age of 26. May his memory be blessed.
