Yael. from Moshav Ge’a, fell in battle at the Nahal Oz outpost while performing her duty as a lookout until the last moment. Yael’s favorite place in the world was the desert, specifically the Ramon Crater. Yael did a year of service with the Society for the Protection of Nature at Mount Negev and returned there at every opportunity to breathe in the desert. Yael loved embroidering very much, for friends, family, and herself. She was a people person, attentive, sensitive, and kind-hearted. On her grave it is written – Loves people, breathes desert, embroiders friendships. Beloved by all of us.
Chili Tropper wrote about her:
The terrorist invasion into Israel happened before Yael’s eyes, while she was on duty watching the terrorists’ infiltration through her cameras. With composure, she directed the Golani forces to the points of infiltration.
Her officer, Lieutenant Shir Eilat, of blessed memory, came on the radio and told everyone, “We’re not letting them reach the Kibbutz.”
And so, Yael, Shir, and their comrades acted with courage and dedication to protect the State of Israel. They did this until the terrorists blew up and burned the command center.
Yael was a child of nature, managed to volunteer for a year of service, and filled her family and surroundings with love and joy. She had great wisdom and above all, it seemed, wisdom of the heart. With intelligence, sensitivity, gentleness, and love for people, she captured all who knew her.
